A Way Back Home, photographs by Jane Robbins Kerr, will open on March 18, with a reception on March 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the CSU Rankin Arts Photography Center, 1004 Broadway in Uptown Columbus. This reception is free and open to the public. Jane, who lives in Atlanta, frequently travels back to Mississippi, where she was raised, to photograph. Her exhibit at the Rankin includes works from the Mississippi Delta and from her international travels. Jane believes that her world travels have taught her to appreciate the Mississippi Delta and the way of life Mississippians enjoy. In the delta, she captured photographs of “what is” before it becomes “what was”. Her southern photographs are in the archives of the Charles W. Capps Museum and Archives at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, and in the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, in Atlanta, and the Do Good Fund/Southern Photography Initiative. Mississippi Delta and the way of life these Mississippians enjoy. It was here she captured many of her photographs of “what is” before it becomes “what was.
