First Meeting of Photopia a big success.

A week ago, we held the first Photopia meeting at the Rankin Arts Photography Center and it was an unqualified success. Thirty-six photographers attended, and we spent the first half hour enjoying refreshments, conversation and the beautiful weather on our large balcony overlooking Broadway. When we broke into groups, I discovered that each group (Basic Skills, Professional and Fine Art) had approximately the same number of participants. One of our instructors, local pro John Helms, shared some of his new work from Ft. Benning to an appreciative group of pros and I made a short presentation to the Basic Skills group before meeting with the Fine Art photographers.

I couldn’t have wished for more from our first meeting, but I know we will get better in the coming months. Please join us on Monday, November 1. Details and an agenda soon.

Kenny Gray, CSU Rankin Arts Photography Program Coordinator
